August Road Trip

We just got back from a whirlwind weekend.  Jay and Harley were married and it was a beautiful weekend!  We left after work on Wednesday and spent the night with Gramsy in Raleigh.  She prepared a big breakfast before we hit the road for New Jersey.  It was nice to see her, even though it was just a short visit.

Thursday, we made the long drive to New Jersey, with a quick stop in Richmond to pick up Bryan, one of the groomsmen.  Friday and Saturday were full of wedding festivities. I wasn't able to snap too many pictures, but here are a few pictures from the events.

I wanted to add that apparently all of the guys in the picture above fit into our car for the ride to lunch - I'm glad I wasn't one of the passengers!

We also had plenty of time to spend with Pops and Oma.  Last time Jon was in New Jersey, he found and cleaned up his old set of wood blocks.  Parker was so excited to play with them.  We were able to bring them back to Columbia since we drove.  It is the largest set of blocks I have ever seen!  Parker (and Jon) had fun building towers and then knocking them over!

Jon had a business meeting on Monday in Pennsylvania, so Parker and I tagged along with him so we could hit the road back home after he finished that up.  Since we had a few hours of time to explore, we drove around central P.A., exploring the small towns.  We passed by several dairy farms and saw lots of other wildlife!  We finally found a playground with a baseball field, so I stopped so Parker could run off as much energy as possible before we started the drive back.

On our way back to South Carolina, we passed through Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.  Jon and I spent Thanksgiving in this quiet town a few years ago with his family.  We passed right through the town center and decided to stop and let Parker stretch his legs.  It was such a nice afternoon - breezy and in the 70's.  We could have stayed all afternoon!

We drove until about 7pm and stopped in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  We were very close to Luray, Virginia, home of the Luray Caverns.  Jon visited the caverns several times as a little boy, so we decided to make a stop and show them to Parker.  It was a really fun time and I'm glad we did.

We woke up early on Tuesday morning and finished the trip home.  About 7 hours later, we pulled into the driveway!  Parker was a champ on the long road trip, but hopefully it will be a little while before we are in the car for that long again!
