Backyard: Phase One

We've been working hard over the past few weeks on fixing up our backyard. My parents were able to spend some time with us last weekend and helped out tremendously. Jon and my dad spent several hours on Saturday digging trenches for our new sprinkler system. Just wait until you see pictures of the trencher - it was gigantic! PUPS (the call before you dig service in South Carolina) had come out and marked all our lines a few days before, but we were still nervous about hitting a line. Fortunately that didn't happen.

Granddaddy and Grandmomma had to leave Saturday afternoon to head back to Charlotte. We had all intentions of finishing up the job on Sunday. Unfortunately plans don't always work out. I ended up coming down with the norovirus and spent most of the day on the couch, so Jon was a one-man team. He worked for ten hours straight trying to get everything finished. He did a great job and we now have a working four-zone sprinkler system.

Now comes phase two: installing the sod. Two pallets of zenith zoysia were delivered to our house early this morning. I can't wait to get the yard tilled up and get the sod rolled out. Luckily, we have more help coming in tonight. We are looking forward to seeing Aunt Cameron and Uncle Jacob and are excited about any help they are able to give us!

Here's some pictures from the past week:

Ready to help Daddy and Granddaddy

Granddaddy hit the back flow and this is what happened. See Jon in the background trying to turn off the main water line?

Parker was ready to join in on the fun!

Two new sprinkler valves

Boys will be boys...Parker's favorite thing to do was play in the trenches.
